Week 4: Auburn

I’ve sometimes heard Clemson described as ‘Auburn with a lake’. If I knew nothing else about Auburn, that would be enough. But I flew all the way from Tokyo to Atlanta in 2010 to watch (S)Cam Newton destroy the Gamecocks, and Auburn is one of the most notoriously consistent cheats in the history of college football. That, too, is detestable.

The Gamecocks haven’t looked like a great football team this year. But they have been better than I expected. I think the Gamecocks match-up better along the lines of scrimmage. That’s more than enough for me. This Saturday will be the one game this season that the Gamecocks win one they shouldn’t.

Prediction: USC 34 - Auburn 24
